JAV 100 An Ashmont Premiere — Michael Kleinschmidt Description All Saints Episcopal Church in Ashmont, Massachusetts is home to Fisk’s Opus 103, an instrument of three manuals and 37 stops (three additional stops are prepared). The Great and Postive divisions are a combination of North German Baroque and French Classical elements while the Swell is modeled on the work of Cavaillé-Coll. This colorful, eclectic pattern has become typical for Fisk, giving such instruments resources aplenty to render the works of Bach and the French masters well, as evidenced on this disc. Kleinschmidt’s fine performance of Dupre’s "Five Antiphons from Vespers of the Holy Virgin" is reason enough to add this recording to your library.  |
