Description
JAV 101 Great Organ Builders, Volume 1 Peter Stoltzfus
A pristine example of G. Donald Harrisons early work, Opus 927 at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven is the starting point for an important series of recordings chronicling the work of the Skinner organ company. Opus 927, built in 1935, stands at a pivotal point in Harrisons stylistic development between the organs of the early 30s and the landmark instruments built subsequently that represent his mature tonal style. Peter Stoltzfus handles this instrument expertly, exploring its tonal landscape in works by Widor, Bach, DAquin, Franck and Vierne. His playing is particularly eloquent in two works by Sowerby A Joyous March and Requiescat in Pace.
